Winter time is coming

Days are about to get shorter as clocks are going back for standard time this weekend – and for the time being daylight saving is here to stay, despite the fact that the European Parliament last year voted to scrap it from 2021.

That is now looking unlikely, according to Sweden's infrastructure minister, Tomas Eneroth, who handles the matter here.

Eneroth told news agency TT that the issue is not a priority for the EU right now.

There are more important matters to focus on during a pandemic, he said, noting that it could take a few more years for the EU to allow member states to scrap the twice-a-year custom of changing the clocks by an hour in spring and autumn.
