Vasaloppet, one of the most famous winter sporting events in Sweden will change form next year, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The cross-country skiing marathon, which is the highlight of a whole week of skiing races in Dalarna in February/March, usually attracts tens of thousands of participants, but that won't be the case next year.

"We will invite only professional elite skiers to the main Vasaloppet competition. About 300 elite men, and 100 elite women", Tommy Höglund Sports Director at Vasaloppet tells Radio Sweden.
