The new regions are Kalmar, Västerbotten and Norrbotten, while Blekinge region has chosen to go ahead without the green light from the Public Health Agency.
"We need to act now, we cannot wait for the process" said Bengt Wittesjö, who is the regional infectious disease officer in Blekinge.

Local Covid-19 recommendations are currently in place in these regions:
- Blekinge (Introduced independently by the local region)
- Västra Götaland
The precise recommendations for each region can vary, but generally include recommendations not to meet people from outside your household, to avoid indoor environments like shopping centres, gyms and swimming pools, and to avoid public transport.
While they are called "recommendations", residents are expected to follow them, and they are decided upon by medical officers in the local regions and the Public Health Agency.
