Parliament on Wednesday voted in favour of new rules aimed at protecting the rights of UK citizens living and working in Sweden before the Brexit transition period ends at the turn of the year.

From December 1st, Brits who live in Sweden can apply to the Swedish Migration Agency for a new residence status, either online or by filing a paper form.

Those who have been here for five years or more will get a permanent residence status, while people who have been in Sweden for less than that period will be granted temporary residence status for five years, which can then be extended.

Jonas Colling, Brexit coordinator at the Swedish Migration Agency tells Radio Sweden what people need to know to apply.
