  • Hygiene routines among staff working in homes for the elderly were found to be lacking during on-the-spot checks in March, but a repeat survey in October showed clear improvement, Swedish Radio P4 Jönköping reports, after surveying municipalities in Östergötland, Kronoberg, Kalmar and Jönköping.

  • Söderköping municipality had significant problems in the spring, but checks now show 95 percent compliance.

  • "Our staff thought they were doing what they were supposed to, but they weren't," says Sara Olofsson, who runs one home for the elderly in Söderköping.
