Fears of widespread illegal wild boar meat sales
- Although more than 146,000 wild boar were killed by hunters in 2019, only 13 per cent of the animals were butchered by a licensed operator reports SVT.
- Selling or distributing wild boar meat to people outside the hunter's own household is illegal, because of the risk of spreading illnesses.
- The hunters' association says it is aware of illegal sales, but denies it is a major phenomenon.
