Pandemic halts more than 91,000 medical operations last year
- Last year, over 443,000 operations were carried out in Sweden which is more than 91,000 fewer than in 2019.
- Gunnar Enlund, a senior doctor at the Akademiska hospital in Uppsala who works with the preoperative register says he's never seen such a decline.
- "Should we be able to operate and catch up, we should increase our capacity by about 10 percent and then it would take 20 months," he tells Swedish Radio News.
