High levels of unemployment expected to climb again
- Last year Sweden experienced its highest rate of unemployment in over two decades.
- Since the spring, the unemployment rate has stabilised at just under 9 percent but the Public Employment Service expects it to rise again over the coming months.
- "One risk with this crisis is that long-term joblessness will increase and increase permanently," says Annika Sundén at the agency.
