
A Swedish culture canon: a celebration of Swedish culture, or a 'waste of energy'?
The government and the Sweden Democrats want to introduce a Swedish cultural canon, a kind of list of different types of Swedish cultural works that will be put together by independent expert committees.
But is it a way to celebrate Swedish culture, or a kind of authoritarianism? A way to stimulate the cultural debate, or a waste of time and energy?
Radio Sweden spoke to educators working at Scandinavian Studies departments at universities and colleges in Minnesota, Berlin, Copenhagen and Helsinki to hear their views on the pros and cons of a Swedish cultural canon.
