Armand "Mondo" Duplantis vaults to gold at Tokyo Olympics

  • Swedish pole vaulter Armand "Mondo" Duplantis took gold at the Olympics in Tokyo on Tuesday, reaching 6.02 meters. 

  • 21 years old Duplantis tried to beat the world record which he previously set at 6.18 meters, but did not manage this time. Duplantis, who grew up in Louisiana, also holds US citizenship.

  • This was Sweden's second of the games, both in track and field.
