Centre party to drop demand for market rent reform

  • The Centre Party is ready to drop its demand that the government coalition goes ahead with abolishing rent controls on newly built apartments, leader Annie Lööf told newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Wednesday.
  • The Left Party triggered a vote of no-confidence in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven on Monday over the proposal and dropping it could mean Löfven can get their support back, allowing him to form a new government.
  • Lööf said she hoped the Liberal Party would come on board with another January agreement.
