Covid-19 third most common cause of death during first half of year

  • Covid-19 was the third most common cause of death in Sweden during the first six months of 2021, just as it was for the first half of last year.

  • That's according to preliminary statistics from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

  • Some 46,900 people died in Sweden during the first six months of 2021, compared to around 51,500 during the same time frame in 2020.
