Ageing in Sweden
'Discrimination against elderly in Sweden is so bad'
- The average retirement age in Sweden is 64.5, and you only have the formal right to work until you turn 68.
- Age discrimination can be a factor when older people apply for jobs, according to Stockholm University researcher Loretta Platts. (She's also active in Pensionsrättvisa, an organization pushing for more equal pensions.)
- Radio Sweden also speaks to Wiveca Holst, a pensioner working occasionally as a lecturer and an activist for better pensions.
