Easter services back to normal in Swedish churches after the pandemic

  • Since pandemic restrictions were lifted and Covid-19 is no longer officially classified as a disease that is dangerous to society, life is starting to return to how it once was, and that will include Easter services in Swedish churches.

  • The churches and parishes that Radio Sweden has been in contact with, such as the Lutheran Church of Sweden and the Catholic Church, say that services this year will be almost like they were before the pandemic, but some lessons from the pandemic remain.

  • “We have more stability with digital media and can record all our services and publish them both on our website and on social media”, says Mattias Wahlgren, head of communication for Lutheran Church of Sweden at the parish of Visby Cathedral, on the island of Gotland.
