Funding gap means integration project risks being shut down

  • The "Establishment Boost" - as the project is called, or "Etableringslyftet" in Swedish - has been seen as a model for the Center Party and the government's integration work.

  • The project is currently financed by the European Social Fund, and managed by the municipalities of Sollentuna, Sigtuna and Upplands Väsby in collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service.

  • But its funding ends at the end of the year, and current rules mean that the Swedish Public Employment Service should primarily procure projects for new arrivals to Sweden from private companies, not from municipalities, as in this scheme.
