Goverment wants unemployment benefit reform
The government says it wants to reform Sweden's system of unemployment insurance, known as ”a-kassa” in Swedish.
It is proposing that the right to claim unemployment benefits should be decided by how much a person earns rather than how long they have had a job or how many hours they have worked, as it is today.
Minister for Employment and Integration, Johan Pehrson, says the change could mean more people who are out of work will qualify for unemployment benefits.
