Government positive to Sweden hosting 2030 Winter Olympics

The government and the Sweden Democrats have put their weight behind Sweden hosting the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, stating on Sunday that they are positive about a Swedish application to the IOC.

Hans von Uthmann, chair of the Swedish Olympic Committee, tells Radio Sweden the announcement is an important step in their efforts to try and arrange a first ever Winter Olympics in Sweden.

“It's a very important and positive decision and it encourages us to move forward in the process of attempting to host the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in 2030 here in Sweden,” he says.
