Government set to fall this morning following Riksdag vote

  • Sweden's government will likely fall Monday morning as it faces a vote of no-confidence in the parliament at 10am.
  • Since the Left Party stopped supporting the government on Thursday, because of proposed changes that would make some home rents higher, there is now a majority against the government in the Riksdag, Sweden's parliament.
  • If the government resigns or is voted down, there will either be a snap election within the next three months, or the Speaker of Parliament will call for talks to try to form a government that parliament could allow.
