Government: transport companies must demand valid passports from refugees
The Swedish government wants reintroduce legislation to be able to fine transport companies, such as train operators, ferries and airlines, that allow passengers on board without valid passports.
This is however at odds with a recommendation by the EU to make it easier for refugees from Ukraine to travel freely in the union.
"It is not impossible for Ukrainian citizens to get a new passport in any of the embassies or consulates in the countries they have gotten to first," says Home Affairs Minister Anders Ygeman.
