Hate crime investigation dropped – Sweden Democrat back as head of justice committee

Sweden Democrat politician Richard Jomshof is no longer suspected of a hate crime.

Jomshof temporarily stepped down from his post as head of the Swedish parliament's justice committee earlier this month after saying he was to be questioned by police under suspicion of a hate crime, for what he said were two satirical pictures he shared on social media platform X. He denied any wrongdoing.

According to the prosecutor in charge of the preliminary investigation, posting the cartoons was not 'incitement against an ethnic group', and he has dropped the investigation.
