Long-term unemployment dips slightly after swift rise under pandemic

  • The long-term jobless rate lowered slightly last month, the Public Employment Service said, with 186,000 people registered as out of work for at least 12 months in September. 
  • Annika Sundén, head of analysis at the government agency, said it was too soon to say if that downward trend would continue.
  • Overall some 388,000 people are registered as unemployed, about 7.5 percent of the population.
