Magdalena Andersson elected as new Social Democrat leader
Finance Minister Andersson had the support of all 26 party districts in the country, as successor to Stefan Löfven.
The 54-year old joined the youth section of the Social Democrats aged 16 and has studied in Vienna and at Harvard.
Outside of politics, Andersson enjoys mountain climbing, but as a child had no thoughts of scaling the peaks of Swedish politics: "I dreamed of managing a Konsum supermarket", she once said.
