More people failed or quit Swedish courses for immigrants in 2020

  • More people failed or dropped out of Swedish language classes for immigrants in 2020, the Swedish National Agency for Education said.

  • 47 percent of students dropped out of Swedish for immigrants, or SFI, courses. In 2019, that figure was 41 percent.

  • The agency said remote learning rules, brought on by the pandemic, made it hard for students with little or no formal schooling to succeed.
