New work permit rules come into force today
As Radio Sweden has previously reported, today is the day new work permit rules come in force. Non-EU citizens will now need a monthly salary of at least SEK 27,360 to get a work permit in Sweden.
Reaction from unions and employers is mixed. The blue-collar Swedish Trade Union Confederation, LO, welcomes the new rules, saying they'll prevent foreign workers from coming and competing against Swedes for jobs.
But the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise says companies already have a very tough time finding employees in Sweden.
