Record number of cans and bottles recycled in 2021

  • A total of 2.4 billion bottles and cans were recycled in Sweden in 2021, according to new figures from the company Returpack, and that's a new record.

  • The county that recycled the most bottles and cans was Värmland, with one reason being Norwegian tourists in the region, says Katarina Lundell from Returpack.

  • "They like to buy their beverages in Sweden and they also spend their vacation in Sweden", Lundell says.
