  • Sweden's new Psychological Defence Agency is warning there's a risk that the country could face a disinformation campaign in the lead up the election on September 11.

  • However Mikael Tofvesson, the head of the Psychological Defence Agency's operational department, says his agency has not seen any large-scale coordinated efforts targeting the election yet.

  • "Sweden is not per se a high risk country in our view, but with the NATO application, certainly the risk (for disinformation) has risen a little bit," says Janne Elvelid, the head of policy for Sweden and Finland at Facebook owner Meta.
