Säpo: Every third Russian diplomat in Sweden a spy

  • For the first time since 2003, a person has been charged with espionage in Sweden. The man, who denies the crime, is believed to have handed over to a Russian diplomat information he had obtained during his work for Volvo Cars and truck maker Scania.
  • Speaking to Swedish Radio's new podcast, Gräns, Daniel Stenling, head of the security service Säpo's counterintelligence unit, says "We know that every third Russian diplomat works under what we call 'diplomatic cover' and actually works for one of Russia's intelligence services.
