Split shifts still the norm for most municipal health and care workers
A survey by Swedish Radio found 70 percent of local municipalities that responded use the split shift system, where employees work two different time slots during a day with several hours of unpaid time in between.
153 municipalities that answered said they have staff in health and care jobs that work split shifts.
But about two thirds of municipalities state there has been a decision to, or a drive toward, abolishing or reducing the number of split shifts.
