Star pole vaulter Armand Duplantis unveils new plaque in his mother's Swedish hometown

  • The town of Avesta in Dalarna County has awarded champion pole vaulter Armanda Duplantis a plaque on their Walk of Fame, which is located in one of the town's squares.

  • Avesta is Duplantis' mother's hometown, and the local athletics club IK Stål is the first club the current world record holder represented.

  • Duplantis said Avesta was "a second home" to him, and that receiving the plaque was a huge honour.
