Supplier to Nordic clothing chains has subsidiaries in China's Xinjiang region
Nordic fashion brands have been working with a Chinese supplier that has subsidiaries in the country's Xinjiang region, where the UN's Human Rights Office says serious human rights violations have occurred.
That's according to an investigation from Radio Sweden. The Swedish clothing chain Lindex and the Norwegian retailer Varner, which owns Dressmann and Bik Bok among others, are two of the companies using the Chinese textiles supplier Jiangsu Lianfa.
Both Lindex and Varner say they will stop working with Jiangsu Lianfa, which told Radio Sweden it complies with international standards, and has agreed to customer-requested assessments and audits, which it has passed.
