Sweden must beat Spain after Georgian shocker

1:20 min
  • A 0-2 defeat away to Georgia last night means Sweden must beat Spain on Sunday to secure their place for next year's football World Cup in Qatar.

  • The Swedes , with Zlatan Ibrahimovic returning to the starting line-up after injury, had been in pole position in Group B, two points ahead of Spain, going into their penultimate qualifier in Batumi but two second-half goals for the Georgians shocked the Swedes.

  • If Sweden fail to secure the three points on Sunday at least Spain's win in Athens has secured Sweden's place in the World Cup play-offs next March.
