Saturday night saw the first semi-final in Sweden’s biggest TV-event: the Melodifestival. It’s the contest that decides which song will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade this May.
Over the next six weeks an average of over 3 million Swedes will sit down in front of their TV-sets and love or hate the 32 songs fighting it out - and the media frenzy will dominate the tabloids for months.
