Swedish government supports Ukraine EU membership negotiations, says PM

  •  Swedish party leaders gathered in the parliament today to debate European Union issues.

  • Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said Sweden will support opening negotiations with Ukraine in the new year to become a member of the EU. He also highlighted the importance of a united EU, and Sweden's role in it.

  • But Social Democrat leader Magdalena Andersson questioned Kristersson's partnership with the Sweden Democrats, claiming that they wanted a 'Swexit'.
