
The health dangers of obstructive sleep apnoea
Obstructive sleep apnoea, which makes patients temporarily stop breathing while asleep, is a sleep disorder that affects the lives of thousands of Swedes and it can have serious health consequences.
Before treatment with a CPAP machine, which generates a continuous stream of pressurised air into a mask, 80-year-old Gert Grundström's OSA was so severe that he would stop breathing 81 times an hour while asleep next to his wife.
