The IT attack that crippled a town in northern Sweden
The municipality of Kalix, in the far north of Sweden, is on the road to recovery after an IT attack which crippled vital functions and systems in the local council in the run up to Christmas.
After a news conference this afternoon, the municipal director of Kalix, Maria Henriksson, tells Radio Sweden that repairs following the ransomware attack have cost them SEK 2.5 million kronor so far.
And she remembers the IT attack as "a matter of life and death" for some people in the area, which is close to the Arctic Circle.
