Thousands more deaths than normal last year in Sweden
- In 2020, nearly 7,500 more people died than would have in a normal year, according to official figures from Statistics Sweden.
- Last year, 98,124 people died in Sweden. When looking at 2010 to 2019, about 90,600 people died on average each year.
- The country's population reached 10.3 million people at the end of 2020, a year that also saw Sweden's smallest population growth since 2005.
