  • Some 70,000 eel fry were released into the Stångån river in Linköping on Tuesday.

  • Jakob Bergengren, environmental engineer at the municipally owned company Tekniska verken, says that eels have existed for millions of years, but about 95% of the European eel stock is gone.

  • "We're doing everything we can to save the last 5% and get the population to grow," he says.
