  • Volvo Group is looking to set up a new battery factory in Sweden, specifically in the municipality of Mariestad.

  • The group said in a press release that the move is aimed at meeting growing demand for electric-powered heavy trucks and machinery, as well as supporting the company's goal to have 35 per cent of all its products run on electricity by 2030.

  • Claes Eliasson, the head of communications for Volvo Group, told Swedish Radio in Skaraborg that the factory, if approved, could lead to thousands of new jobs in the region.
