Weather chaos as storm hits northern Sweden

  • Storm "Gyda" which caused chaos in Norway has moved into northern Sweden, bringing high winds, flooding, snow and the risk of avalanches.

  • Some buildings in the municipality of Åre have been flooded as the combination of heavy rain and melting snow has produced large volumes of water.

  • "The water inside the bottom floor of our hotel has filled with about 200 cubic square metres," says Mikael Johansson, who is the property manager of the Storlien Högfjälls hotel in the ski resort of Åre.
