While Sweden raises the work permit salary threshold - Denmark lowers theirs

  • The Swedish government and the Sweden Democrats have often looked to Denmark for inspiration on issues relating to migration and integration.

  • But when it comes to labour migration the two countries are heading in opposite directions.

  • While Sweden has raised the minimum salary for work permits to 80 per cent of the median salary - and the government aims to bring it up to 100 per cent - Denmark earlier this year lowered their threshold: from a salary on about 82 per cent of the Danish median, to 69 per cent.
