Work permit holders already in Sweden hoping for exemption to new pay rules
The Migration Agency estimates that 10-20 percent of the people who got a work permit in Sweden last year, will not earn enough to qualify for the new salary threshold which looks like being introduced at the beginning of November.
From then on, work permits will only be extended for jobs with salaries over 27,360 kronor per month, or 80% of the median wage in Sweden.
”The people who are already here, and who have invested time here, should be exempt from the new requirement,” says Krisnendu Mahalder, who works in the service industry in Stockholm.
Press play to listen to two people fearful they will have to leave Sweden, and what the migration minister told us in July.
