Proposal to Lower Some Alcohol Taxes

The chairman of parliament’s Committee on Taxation, Lennart Hedquist, has come up with a new suggestion to try to cut the amount of alcohol being smuggled into Sweden....to make beer and wine here cheaper by lowering taxes.

At the same time though, duties on spirits would be raised. As Dave Russell reports, the proposal is controversial, both within the government and among the opposition:
