Museum Visits Fall After Reintroduction of Admission Fees

Sweden’s previous Social Democrat introduced free admission to state-owned museums, which resulted in visitor numbers shooting up, some by more than 300 per cent.

But the country’s new centre-right government brought back the fees last month, arguing the public was paying for museums anyway through tax money. The result, as Tom McAlinden reports, drops of up to 86 per cent in visitors numbers:
