Five Years After Rejecting the Euro

Five years ago Sweden’s domestic politics were dominated by a single issue: should this country join the European Monetary Union? In a referendum, a broad majority of Swedish voters finally rejected the euro - hoping that the country’s currency, the krona, would remain strong.

Those hopes seem to have been justified – since Sweden’s economy has been booming the previous years - despite or because of the krona:
