Half a Century of Women Clergy

In 1958, Sweden’s Lutheran state church decided to allow women to become ministers - sparking emotional debates over the need of reforms within the church.

Now, 50 years later, women clergy have become a usual sight in Swedish churches. In fact, the ministry has become a profession that is by far more popular among young women than among young men:
