Dead Swede Accused of Top al-Qaeda Post
Terrorist experts say a Swede recently killed in Iraq was al-Qaeda’s number two there.
A 43 year old Moroccan with Swedish citizenship was killed in Iraq in early October. According to the American military and terrorism experts, the man was the number two leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq.
But not everyone agrees with that assessment.
The man’s Swedish lawyer says his client was poorly educated and he has trouble imagining him in a high position in a terrorist network.
The well-known Swedish-Kurdish journalist Kurdo Baksi says the man was definitely involved with al-Qaeda but that certainly not in a leading position. Baksi tells the TT news agency that the American military are just exaggerating the importance of all the terrorists they kill.
