The Swedish branch of the world-wide human rights organization Amnesty International has again taken up the controversial question of capital punishment with an international conference here in Stockholm.

Although noting that a growing number of nations are banning state executions, leading politicians in the U.S., China, Russia and elsewhere still say this is a good way to combat crime.
