Independent Inquiry into Latest Allegations of Police Racism

Police in southern Sweden were once again under fire at the weekend over racist insults.

Police Chief Bengt Svensson has promised an independent inquiry to restore public confidence after officers in Skåne, playing criminals and suspects on a training exercise adopted racist names.

The news, which broke in the regional Sydsvenskan newspaper, came just days after it was revealed that three police officers were caught on film using racist terms during riots in the southern Swedish city of Malmö last December.
