Stockholm Metro Line Shut For Months

A central section of Stockholm’s Metro system is to be shut down for months as engineers work on a new tunnel in the centre of the city. The Blue line between Rådhuset and Kungsträdgården is to be shut from the middle of June until the middle of October, according to Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter.

Passengers wanting to get into the city centre from the northern suburbs will have to change to another line, putting pressure on an already strained system during the summer.

The line is being closed so that work can continue on the so-called Citybanan raillink, which it is hoped will ease pressure on Stockholm’s overland train system, by tunnelling a new railway through the heart of the city.
