Sony Ericsson to Dismiss 2,000

Redundancies continue to plague a Sweden already suffering rising unemployment and a sluggish economy in the face of the world financial crisis.

The latest announcement says 2,000 workers will be fired from the giant Swedish-Japanese Sony Ericsson telecommunications company in a new budget-saving package.

The firm is not yet saying how many jobs will be lost in Sweden or in other countries.
